2009 Fall Championship Meet

September 11 – October 25

The best horses, jockeys, and trainers come together at Beautiful Belmont Park to compete in 11 Grade 1 races during our 34 day Fall Championship meeting. A sample of the Grade 1 lineup includes The Ruffian, Vosburgh, Beldame, Flower Bowl, Frizette, Champagne, Jamaica Handicap, and the Jockey Club Gold Cup. Join us on Saturday, October 24, as we celebrate New York Showcase Day -- with 7 stakes races, totaling $1 million, featuring the best of New York bred Thoroughbred racing.

General admission is still only $2, and Clubhouse admission remains $5. Children 12 and under are admitted to the park free when accompanied by an adult. Gates open at 11:00 a.m., and first post time is 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise indicated. For more information, please phone (516) 488-6000.

Pick the Pros and Ponies

Every Sunday, Beginning September 13
Enjoy the races at Belmont Park, and catch all the NFL fall action! We have all the thoroughbred racing excitement you could ask for, and all the games you don’t want to miss. Play our free weekly contest, and you could win. Select the winners of four designated NFL games, and Races 3 and 5, and a cool $1,000 could be yours! College Day – Saturday, September 26

College students vie for their chance to win a $1,000, or even a $2,000 scholarship after each race! First post time is 1:00 p.m. College students and racing fans alike are invited to welcome in the fall at Belmont Park. The celebration also includes live music, featuring Long Island’s own “Downtown” band! Free general admission to college students with a valid I.D.


NFL Football Rivalry Day - Sunday, September 27

Why choose between watching your favorite New York NFL team, and cheering for your favorite horse? On Sunday, September 27, you can do both at beautiful Belmont Park. Free general admission for patrons wearing the colors, caps, jerseys, or tee shirts of their favorite New York NFL team. Also, enter for a chance to win ticket to see your favorite New York team in action during the 2009 season! Game viewing locations will be set up throughout the park. Jockey Club Gold Cup: Racing’s Super Saturday

Racing’s superstars converge on Belmont Park on Saturday, October 3 as the best horses, jockeys, and trainers in the nation compete in the Grade I Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational (for 3 year olds and up), the Grade I Beldame (for fillies and mares), the GI Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (for 3 year olds and up), the GI Flower Bowl Invitational (for fillies and mares), and the GI Vosburgh (for 3 year olds and up)!



New York Showcase Day – Saturday, October 24

What place in the world is more beautiful than New York in fall? And where better to spend that New York fall day than Belmont Park? Showcase Day is a celebration of the best the state has to offer. Seven New York-bred stakes races with purses totaling $1 million! Showcase Day exclusively features New York bred horses, and is highlighted by the $250,000 Empire Classic (for 3 year olds and up).

Weekends in September
One of our most popular programs is Breakfast at Belmont Park! Get a behind-the-scenes look at the world of thoroughbred racing, including guided tram tours of Belmont’s remarkable stable area, trackside commentary of live morning workouts, daily starting gate demonstrations, and much more!

Breakfast at Belmont Park is open to the public on weekends in September, during the Belmont Fall Meet (September 12 – September 27).

Admission and activities for Breakfast at Belmont Park are free, with the option to purchase breakfast.
